Freedom Writer

Newsletter, Community Site, and PDFs

This is a series of short announcements for FreedomWriter.net.

First, my email newsletter is now available. Thanks to FreeLists.org. Details can be found in the subscription page.

Note: Initially, I meant to offer email subscription as a benefit for my future supporters (because I will have to pay for it). However, because of this free service provided by FreeLists, I can now offer it for free, and for all.

Second, I have created a community site for my readers called Freedom Hub Online, and it’s going to be a community about personal and spiritual freedom. It uses the old-school, but tried-and-true forum software phpBB.

Obviously, the site is still under construction, and there’s still a lot to do before I can open it to the public. But this is something that you can now all look forward to.

I will write more about this soon. For now, simply know that Freedom Hub Online is going to be a platform for people to express themselves through words, and for the purpose of finding that precious soul-freedom that often comes from writing, and from interaction with like-minded people. It will be a Christian site, promoting the Christian faith and worldview, but it will accept people who are on the neutral ground. And it will not be a safe place. No, not at all. You can disagree. You can critique. You can talk about mature things. You can explore the deepest and darkest parts of yourself, and bring them all to the light of day. It other words, it will be a reflection of, and extension of the things I do here in FreedomWriter.net.

As someone who has personally known the costs (and consequences) of standing up for the truth and for the things I believe in, I highly value my right to speak my mind, but I am also careful. Because I know the power of my words. Thus, Freedom Hub Online — this community that I’m building — will have much respect for people’s freedom of speech, but in return, it will also demand much responsibility from them. Because free speech, as I intimately know, is not free at all….

Lastly, I am working now to make my future content1 available, not only in the website and in the newsletter, but also as downloadable and printable PDF files. This will make it easy for people to share my writings, which are, after all, licensed under Creative Commons.
