About

FreedomWriter.net

In general, FreedomWriter.net is about fulfilling God’s will for our lives — that is, our sanctification, or spiritual growth. And that is done through studies of, and reflections on his Word. I write my blog posts, personal essays, and Bible studies with that overall purpose in mind.

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification…” —1 Thessalonians 4:3

In particular though, FreedomWriter.net is also about my personal journey towards spiritual liberty, and I define this liberty as the freedom and power to follow God wherever and however he leads. That is my ideal, but sadly, despite years of struggle, this has never been realized (yet) in my life. Too many weaknesses, too many things to do and to prepare for, too many things to learn, and too many setbacks and failures.

Arjay B. Araña

Hi there. My name is Arjay B. Araña. I’m a Filipino Christian, and this website, FreedomWriter.net, is my latest attempt in trying to fulfill the vocation that God has laid in my heart — as a writer and teacher of his Word. Freedom, in this context, is spiritual freedom: God’s truth, lovingly and expertly proclaimed, can set people free from all sorts of bondage.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” —John 8:32

As a Christian, I have not walked the usual path, one that is supported by people. Rather, because of the depths of my soul, and because of my vocation, I have walked alone for the most part — a misfit in the Church, and a wanderer in the world. Always have been, and I always will be.

Thus, my writings are not the usual: They are more grounded in reality, more honest, and more challenging. I aim to question conventional Christian wisdom and beliefs that aren’t truly rooted in the Bible. I also aim to break free of the generational curses that had defined me and many others in my generation. And I am doing these things so that I may truly live in liberty, and give my best to God.

I am Reformed #

Although I am mostly alone, I try to be grounded in orthodoxy in my beliefs. To that end, I have embraced and I’m studying Reformed theology or Calvinism, and I have also adopted for my own TGC’s Confessional Statement. I also believe in the following historical creeds: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian Creed.
