A vision delayed, a domain repurposed
This was not the original plan for FreedomWriter.net.

A few years ago I was given the vision of setting up a blogging platform for people with causes, especially conservative Christians. It would be similar to WordPress.com and using the same software, but simpler, more focused, and more respecting of freedom of speech. FreedomWriter.net was supposed to be its name.
I knew that it was going to take a lot of time and a lot hard work, as I wasn’t yet a real web developer that time (and I’m still not), and I certainly don’t have the financial resources. Still, I was hopeful about that vision. However, as per usual in my walk with God, my life didn’t turn out the way I imagined, and so that vision was delayed. And now, a few years later, it’s not even in my sight anymore.
Yes, someday, if God tells me so, I might still do it. For if that vision of a blogging platform really came from God, then there is a right time for it. And if I did do it, I’ll probably not use WordPress anymore. Maybe, if I do become a real web developer just like I hope, I’ll create my own publishing platform using Ruby on Rails.
One thing is for sure though: If that does happen, then it won’t be called FreedomWriter.net anymore. Because this is now what FreedomWriter.net is.
You see, I don’t want to keep on paying for the domain for a vision that might never happen. But I don’t want to give it up either. So I have repurposed it.
Becoming a programmer… a web developer… is only a part of my dream. My primary vocation is writing for God. However, because I am not your usual kind of Christian, nor man, I have been thwarted from that vocation for far too many times already. This is not my first attempt to serve God in this way, nor is this my first website. But it could be the last. You see, I’m not very young anymore (yes, my avatar is an old picture), and I no longer have the time nor the energy for a lot more failures.
